Workers Want Encroachers Stopped

Workers of the Abuakwa Formulation Plant, producers of Unden 200EC insecticide have appealed to the Lands Commission Secretariat and the Atwima District Assembly to stop the encroachment on their lands by private developers. They have, therefore, called for immediate steps to save the situation and a possible demolition of the structures on the encroached lands. The local chairman of the Workers Union, Mr. C. K. Boateng, made the appeal during a visit to the plant by the Atwima District Chief Executive, Mr. P. Y. Mensah He said the encroachers had developed as far as to a fence wall with the plant with impunity, a situation which apart from having a hazardous effect on their health, will also breed theft in the Company's premises. Mr. Mensah assured them that their grievances would be channeled to the appropriate quarters for redress.
