Work starts on Islamic University College

A ceremony to mark the formal start of construction works on the GH¢18.6 million Ghana Muslim Mission (GMM) University College at Esereso in the Bosomtwe District had been performed.

They are putting up structures for lecture theatres, auditorium, administration block, hostels, staff flats and commercial centre on their acquired 16-acre stretch of land.

Sheikh Dr Amin Bonsu, Deputy National Chief Imam of the Mission, said it was a dream, come true and that programmes in administration, theology and education would be run.

The Mission has established 111 basic and senior high schools and nothing could be more refreshing than its addition of a tertiary institution. Sheikh Dr Bonsu said the project would require huge capital outlay and invited all to pool their resources to assist. He expressed gratefulness to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his tremendous support for the project.

Ms. Anima Wilson, Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, praised the Mission for its significant contribution to the development of education.

She appealed to all the people to act responsibly, especially as the country inched towards the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.

An appeal for funds in aid of the project yielded GH¢60,000.00.
