The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako a.k.a ‘Wontumi’ has promised to produce five witnesses in a case in which he has been sued for defamation by businessman Ibrahim Mahama.

Egbert Faibille, lawyer for Wontumi, did not mention names, but he told the High Court (7) in Kumasi that the five witnesses would come to testify in the case possibly on May 4th and 5th, this year when the court sits again.

Mr Faibille made the statement at the end of his cross-examination of Ibrahim Mahama on Tuesday which was vigorous.

Many people thronged the court, which is presided over Charles Adjei Wilson, to hear the case.

Ibrahim Mahama hauled the NPP official to court because he (Ibrahim) claims that Wontumi defamed him before a huge crowd during NPP’s political party programme at Obuasi in the Ashanti region on March 30, 2014.

The businessman has consequently prayed the court to order Wontumi to pay him a staggering GH¢2 million as damages for impugning his reputation.
