Women urged not to aid men in wrongdoing

Accra, Dec 13, GNA- Naa Koodai Asimeh, a Registrar at the Ga Dangme Council Secretariat on Saturday said men who occupy positions of leadership in the Ga Dangme regrettably have not performed creditably. She said it is unfortunate that the women in the area instead of advising them rather aid and abet the men in such activities.

Naa Koodai Asimeh was speaking at the inauguration and fund-raising activities of the Ga Dangme "Yie Anoyaa Kpee" at a ceremony in Accra. The society whose members are made up of women mainly from the Ga Dangme area, aims at improving the welfare of its members and the promotion of entrepreneurial development.

The theme for the occasion was: "Empowering the Ga Dangme women for our socio-economic development"

She called on women to advise the men and give them the support to develop the area.

She said in order to achieve that the women must go to the men with compassion and plead with them to be selfless leaders to be committed to improving their lot.

Naa Koodai said becoming compassion would ensure a more lasting change in the men's attitude to take decisions and move Ga Dangme forward. "Ga Dangme women, if we do not take steps now to reassure our men and encourage them to do the right thing, then we shall forever bear the blame for the breakdown of our society"

Mrs. Atawa Akyea, Chairperson of the Greater Accra National Commission On Women and Development (NCWD) urged the women to make education of their children a priority.

She said the women could eradicate poverty in their areas by investing in their children education, which could more opportunities for them.

Mrs. Atawa also urged the women to see themselves as role mothers for others to emulate them.
