Women trained in soap making at Breman Asikuma

Breman Asikuma (C/R), Sept 27, GNA - Nineteen women from selected communities in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa district have completed a training course in soap-making at Breman Asikuma. The training was organised by Business Development Service, a branch of the Rural Enterprise Project, under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Employment.

The Ghana Government, Africa Development Bank, the district assembly and the National Board for Small Skill Industries sponsored it. The objective of the training was to provide employable skills to poor and needy women in the area to help them to improve their finical position.

Miss Faustina Boateng, Director of 91Fausty A' soap making enterprise, based in the Brong Ahafo Region, took the participants through the processes of how to make soaps such as "Alata samina", carbolic, pale, as well as powdered soaps.

Mr Antwi Boasiako, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Coordinating Director, urged the participants to make good use of the knowledge acquired at the training.

He advised them to form groups to enable them to access financial support from the banks and other credit schemes.
