Sunyani (B/A) The MP for Nkoranza, Miss Theresa Nyarko- Fofie, has said that despite efforts to get more women involved in decision-making, they are still being marginalised as a result of socio-cultural manipulations. She regretted that only six out of the 16 women MP's in the first parliament of the fourth republic were voted for the second term of office and said such a situation does not rpt not augur well for the development of women in a democratic state. Miss Nyarko-Fofie was speaking at a forum organised by the National Council on Women and Development (NCWD) as part of activities to mark women's week in the Brong-Ahafo region at Sunyani. The forum was addressed by the other women MP's in the region, Madam Abenaa Nsowaa for Kintampo and Miss Grace Boachie for Tano south. The occasion is celebrated annually to evaluate activities of women in the country to ascertain their successes and failures and to draw up new strategies towards their empowerment.
