Akim Oda (E/R), July 9, GNA - Akim Oda Magtistrate Court has imposed a fine of GH¢200.00 on Mary Owusua, 28, for beating up a pregnant woman and causing her to have a miscarriage. She is also paying GH¢300.00 to compensate the pregnant woman, Madam Constance Darkwa, a trader.

Owusua pleaded guilty to causing harm and would serve an 18-month prison term in hard labour if she defaults in payment.

Briefing the Court presided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor, Police Chief Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah said Madam Darkwa and Owusua are rivals and live at Akim Swedru.

He said on May 6, 2011 Owusua went to Madam Darkwa's house to warn her to refrain from feeding her children, because they were rivals but Madam Darkwa stressed that since she was a Christian she would not do so.
