Akyem-Achease, Oct 24, GNA - A 20-year-old woman, Adwoa Attahkwah, died soon on admission at the Akim Oda Government Hospital after taking part in a plantain and kontomre meal on a farm at Akim Achease. The Hospital Secretary, Mr Gyamfi Yeboah, told the Ghana News Agency at Akim Oda that the decease went to assist a cocoa farmer, Mr Kofi Annor, to dry cocoa beans on his farm.

Later in the day the deceased, together with Madam Efua Mansah, 45, the wife of the farmer and her daughter, Asi Duoduwaa, prepared the meal which all of them ate.

Soon after eating the meal, the three women complained of stomachache. Attahkwah collapsed and was taken to the hospital where she died.

Madam Mansah and Duoduwaah, who were taken to the Akyem-Achease clinic, were treated and discharged.

Mr Yeboah said samples of the food were taken to the hospital laboratory for testing while the case had been reported to the police for investigation.
