A woman identified as Auntie Abena has been butchered to death at Abaase, a farming community near Asamankese in the Eastern Region.

The incident occurred Tuesday.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Morgue at the St. Dominic Hospital in Akwatia, according to sources.

A resident of the community told Starr News, the community suspects the deceased was raped by her assailant.

According to Yaw Charles, when the youth rushed to the crime scene, they found blood stained underwear of the deceased. He said there were signs of a struggle at the crime scene.

Meanwhile, reports suggest a suspect Yaw Donkor, a native of Akanteng, a nearby village has been arrested over the incident.

The Asamankese Police is yet to comment on the issue.
