Woman Arrested For Torturing Linguist

Akua Boakyewaa, a 46-year- old woman has been arrested together with 10 macho men for allegedly torturing the linguist of a fetish priest and stealing GH¢5,500 at Akooko near Tafo in the Eastern region.

Boakyewaa was said to have hired the macho men from Nima to Akooko to beat up the fetish priest, Nana Saka who failed to double an amount of GH¢3000 for her and also refused to give her back the said amount.

She and the armed macho men were arrested by the police after some residents in the area informed the police who rushed to the scene.

The macho men were named as Joseph Alacha,28 years, Alhassan Awudu,28, Nketia Asante,39, Rabiu Kasim,29,Awudu Adams,29, Uraru Mamude,24,Malik Fuseini,20, Lari Delade,32, Mohammed Abdulai, 21 and Moro Rashi,15.

The Eastern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwabena Gyamerah-Yeboah explained to the Times that on Tuesday October 2, Boakyewaa went to see the fetish priest, Nana Saka at Akooko near Tafo to double an amount of GH¢3000 for her.

Nana Saka, who promised to double the money however failed and also refused to give back the said amount to Boakyewaa.

Angered by the failure on the part of the fetish priest to give her back her money, Boakyewaa on Saturday October 6 at about 12pm hired the 10 macho men from Nima in Accra to Akooko near Tafo to beat up the fetish priest and take back her money.

DCOP Gyamerah-Yeboah explained further that Akua Boagyewaa and the armed macho men who drove to Akooko in a charted Hyundai H200 with registration number GS 51 98-12 unfortunately did not meet the fetish priest but met his linguist whom they tortured with cutlasses .

They then asked for the room of the fetish priest where they broke in and took an amount of GH¢5,500 belonging to the fetish priest.

Some of the residents in the area who witness the incident informed the police who rushed to the scene and arrested the Boakyewaa and the 10 macho men.

DCOP Gyamerah-Yeboah told the Times the suspect would be charged for robbery and put before court.

He however advise Ghanaians to desist from sending monies to fetish priests and asking them to double it for them saying that ‘there is nothing like doubling monies’ adding that ‘this would help to prevent incidents such as that of Boakyewaa’.
