Wirenkyiren Amanfrom Appeal For Help

Amanfrom (E/R), Sept 3, The people of Wirenkyiren Amanfrom, a farming community, near Kibi in the East Akim District, have appealed to the government to assist them to complete their electrification project started several years ago. Madam Mariam Oforiwaa Amaning, assemblywoman for the area, and Mr Boadu Manfo, secretary of the electrification project committee, said the people have so far spent 15 million cedis to erect 73 out of the 103 treated wooden poles procured. Madam Amaning said the farmers managed to pay a flat rate levy of 5,000 cedis out of their small earnings and organized a harvest to support the project. She said the people are financially handicapped and that it has become increasingly difficult for them to procure the remaining 30 poles to complete the project. Madam Amaning and Mr Manfo, therefore, called for assistance to complete the project and instal a transformer for the town.
