Founder and leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, is questioning the NDC on why they seem frightened by the Electoral Commission’s decision to compile a new register.

According to him, NDC’s fear of a new register only proves that they are on a mission to diabolically sabotage the EC.

The Electoral Commission believes the integrity of the 2020 polls could be undermined if a new roll and a new Biometric Voter Management System are not put in place.

They have for that matter, taken a decision to procure a new Biometric Voter Management System on the advice of its IT team and external consultants to refurbish the current system.

But the announcement of a new register has sparked controversies in the country, with the NDC claiming the act was one of President Akufo-Addo’s ways to “rig” the polls later this year and retain power despite its non-performance.

Mr Akpaloo reacting to NDC’s conduct and allegations towards the Commission so far, is saddened at how the party has been able to mobilize 6 other political parties to constantly torment the EC in its attempt to improve the country’s electoral system.

"In furtherance of their diabolic agenda against the EC, we have taken notice that the NDC is currently leading a group comprising some 6 political parties under the umbrella name 'Inter-Party Resistance Against the New Voters' Register' to constantly torment the EC in its attempt to improve our electoral system by procuring a new biometric system ahead of election 2020. For your information, out of the 6 parties, we have two here. We have the PNC and UPP here. So it means they 6 they are talking about is not true, it 4 and a half,” he added.
