Doha Attack: Ghanaian nationals urged to stay indoors amid regional tensions
Because the war threatens civilian aircraft and airline operations directly, many countries in and around the conflict zone have closed their airspace to commercial flights or restricted air traffic.
Iran, Iraq, Israel, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Syria closed their skies entirely to civilian flights, while Saudi Arabia and Oman have kept parts of their airspace open but with major restrictions.
Major international carriers have rerouted thousands of flights to abstain the conflict zone, affecting many countries’ ability to evacuate their nationals in the region by air.
Some Middle East states have partially reopened airspace corridors for limited commercial operations where it’s considered safer.
This has prompted many countries to explore other means of transportation, such as roads.
