Who is our Jesus? – Apostle Jude Hama quizzes

The immediate past General Director of the Scripture Union (SU) of Ghana, Apostle Jude Hama, queried Christians about their understanding on the true identity of Jesus Christ. This was during the launch of two insightful books - “What is amazing about Jesus” and “Knowing him better”, at the Fiesta Royal Hotel over the weekend.

Apostle Jude Hama was inspired to embark on both publications after 35 years of critical research and observation in the ministry of Jesus Christ. He was particularly worried about the current distortions of the true identity of the Messiah in the media. “Believers are likely to make a wrong presentation of who Jesus is without knowing the Bible well,” Apostle Hama said. “In the media, people fail to highlight Jesus’s omnipotence and Awesomeness, by completely painting a wrong image of Him,” he added.

Highlighting some few chapters in both books, the author bemoaned the current relegation of Jesus Christ to the fringes by modern-day Christians. Laying emphasis on some scriptures, he was of the conviction that the Psalmists did a great job describing who Jesus really is in Psalm 91 of the Holy Bible. “Who is Jesus?” he asked. “Is prayer our first and last resort when we encounter challenges?’’ Apostle Jude added.

He was of the view that Ghana can be transformed when our human resource have the presence of Jesus Christ in them. The Apostle testified to the amazing power of Jesus Christ in his evangelistic journeys, by citing his experience with some Senior High Schools, where grades improved significantly after granting the Scripture Union (SU) permission to evangelize to them.

The Chairperson of the launch, Her Excellency Matilda Amissah-Arthur, wife of the Vice-President of Ghana, also took her turn to share some insights about both books. She encouraged Christians to do whatever they do, as unto God but not man. The Second lady narrated her nearly missed flight to Ghana some hours to the book launch and attributed her success in boarding the flight to the doing of Jesus Christ.

Matilda Amissah-Arthur, argued that some Christians of today did not value salvation because Jesus gave it to us for free, but placed premium on very expensive things that will do them no good. “God will ask us how we lived our lives on earth; we can only get a good life by serving the amazing God well,” she said. She added that both books will make every Christian fall in love with Jesus again.

The two books comprise published articles, sermons preached and critical research conducted by Apostle Jude Hama, over a generation. Funds from the sale of these books will be used to fund the Apostle’s upcoming publication – “Making disciples in Africa” and support his upcoming evangelism missions.

Apostle Jude Hama, was the main guest speaker at the Evangelical Church’s National Catechists conference and the Ghana Baptist Convention’s annual session this year. He was also the main speaker at the Jesus Festival at Wesley Girls High School and is scheduled for a mammoth crusade in Mawuli School this December. The two books will be available at Trinity bookshop and other bookshops known for Christian literature.
