President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the government will take a clear and definitive position on the Bawku mediation report within the next 24 hours.
He made the statement on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, after receiving the full report on the mediation process from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Jubilee House.
“I’m pleased that Otumfuo’s mediation has come to an end and now he has presented a report. I can assure him that the government will review this report, and within the next 24 hours, we will issue a statement on our definitive position,” President Mahama said.

The Asantehene was appointed by President Mahama to lead mediation efforts in Bawku.
The mediation process, which began in April 2025 with separate consultations with representatives of the feuding sides, was briefly suspended but later resumed in May 2025, contributing to a period of relative calm in the area.
