Walewale, (N/R), May 1, GNA- Mr. Sule Abudu Zakari 47, the President's nominee for the District Chief Executive (DCE) of West Mamprusi has overwhelmingly been endorsed by the Assembly. Out of 52 votes cast he polled 42 votes, representing 90.3 percent. Five voted against.
In a hectic contest earlier for the position of Presiding Member (PM) between three Assembly members and after three times of voting over two hours, Mr. Issah Abudulai got 40 votes to be elected the PM. In a related development, the East Mamprusi District Assembly has also overwhelmingly endorsed Mr. Adam Imoro 35, a Project Officer of the East Mamprusi Community Bank as its District Chief Executive. He polled 36 out of 37 votes representing 100 percent of the votes cast.
In a similar hot contest and after three rounds of voting the assembly members elected Mr. Tia Issahaku Sandow as the Presiding Member.
He received 30 votes representing 83.36 percent of the votes. Mr. Stephen Sumani Nayina, Northern Regional Minister who addresses the separate ceremonies congratulated the Assembly members for the peaceful elections and their show of maturity in confirming the Presidents nominees. He urged the Assembly members to avoid partisan politics in the deliberations of the Assembly's meetings and cooperate with the new DCEs to push the development agenda of the districts forward.
