Weapons found in suspect's house in Ashanti

Police in the Ashanti Region have intercepted ammunitions at Oguaa near Effiduase. The weapons were found in the home of a resident in the area.

According to XYZ News’ Ashanti Regional correspondent, Isaac Justice Bediako, the ammunitions “were local manufactured pistols, two double barreled guns, three single barreled guns and one foreign pistol as well as a short gun.”

The police are currently after a suspect, Nana Otuo Acheampong, owner of the house where the ammunitions were found.

The Regional Police Commander, DCOP Augustine Gyening told the press at a briefing earlier on Friday that the suspect’s house was raided following a tip-off that he was involved in the cold-blooded murder of a man in Twedie earlier this week. The weapons were found while looking for evidence that tied the suspect to the murder.

Nana Otuo Acheampong is believed to have gone into hiding after several attempts to reach him proved futile.

The police are to find out if the ammunitions are registered.
