Women of Ntenanko, a farming community in the Bekwai Municipality of the Ashanti Region have vowed to continue to starve their husbands from making love to them for fear of getting pregnant and not having a health facility to attend antenatal care.

According to them, the only way they will rescind their decision is for their husbands to work towards operationalizing the completed Ntenanko completed Community-based Health Planning and Service (CHPS) compound which has been left to rot.

The facility was built by the former president John Mahama administration in 2015 to serve about 10 communities including Adoowa, Marfo, Ntenanko and others but is rotting away while residents trek several kilometers to access healthcare.

Fittings at the facility have been stolen and louvre blades destroyed while weeds have taken over the entire structure

The aggrieved women who spoke to Pure Fm’s Osei Kwadwo said they have to travel to Anwiankwanta which is about 30-minutes’ drive for healthcare services and fear that if they allowed their husbands person their conjugal duties they will suffer the more.

According to them, giving birth has become a nightmare for them due to the pains they go through before they can go to Anwiankwanta which is the only alternative for delivery.

“When we fall sick we go to Anwiankwanta for healthcare. We are afraid to get pregnant because of the pains we go through. Even how to get a vehicle from Ntenanko to Anwiankwanta is also a problem due to the poor nature of the road. We are therefore depriving the men sex until our demands are met”, they threatened.

“Bekwai Municipal Assembly and Nana Addo’s government is just punishing us for no reason. If authorities fail to commission the clinic for us, we will not partake in 2020 elections” they warned.

Assembly Woman for Ntenanko Electoral Area Doris Animah Kambi told MyNewsGh.com that authorities have failed to Commission the facility despite several assurances indicating that all efforts to get the facility operational have proven futile.

“I was told that materials and equipment for the facility are ready. But since the widow glasses were destroyed by an unknown person, the facility has been abandoned. They want us to fix the window glasses before they will commission the facility for us. We are appealing to NGOs to help us fix the window glasses” She revealed.
