The People’s National Convention (PNC) has not officially issued any statement regarding the ongoing impeachment processes involving the Commissioner of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Charlotte Osei and her two Deputies, Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwaa, National Communications Director, Emmanuel Wilson, have said.

It was reported in some section of the media that the PNC has called for the suspension of the trio because they pose a threat to the 2020 general elections.

The statement which signed by the Treasurer Akane Adam, said the 2020 polls, would be jeopardized if the three remain in office as commissioners.

The statement said ‘’the Electoral Commission is only key and sensitive institution of the state, mandated by law to conduct free, fair, peaceful and transparent elections [but] we are not safe if EC commissioners are not working in harmony.’’

But speaking to Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Emmanuel Wilson said, the Treasurer is incapable to issue such a release. He also insisted that party has not issued any official comment on the EC’s saga.

‘’The Treasurer issued the statement in his personal capacity his statement does not represent the position of the party. Any statement of such nature will have the signature of the General Secretary, National Chairman and the Communications Director. Anything aside that is null and void,’’ he said.

He gave the hint that the party will sanction the Treasurer for issuing the statement in the name of the PNC.
