'We will not let men marry men in Ghana' - MP fumes

John Ntim Fordjour John Ntim Fordjour

The battle for the legalisation of homosexuality in Ghana wages on as a member of parliament for Assin South, Mr.John Ntim Fordjour has hit hard on some Ghanaian gay activists calling for the rights of the LGBT community to be respected.

Earlier,a group of gay activists in Canada have secured 1000s of signatures from top politicians of Canada in favour of the legalisation of homosexuality. But member of parliament for Assin South in the Central Region, John Ntim Fordjour says Ghana is strictly abiding by the orders of the Bible which he claims clearly speaks against the act.

So far, the speaker of parliament, Prof. Mike Ocquaye, has openly opposed the legalisation of same-sex relationships arguing that Ghana's culture does not support such thing.

With the statements of the Speaker of Parliament and the Member of Parliament, it is likely that parliament could soon pass a law decriminalising homosexuality in the country.
