'We should be planting churches and spreading God's word' – President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has urged members of the public to make evangelism a priority in order to win souls for Christ.

According to him, spreading the word of God will pave the way for the establishment of churches, which will be crucial for the growth and strengthening of the Christian faith.

“I think that is what we should be doing as Christians, planting churches, spreading the word of God, and creating better conditions for those who labor in the Lord’s vineyard to be able to spread His word,” the president said during the valedictory service in honor of Rev Joseph Baisie and Patricia Baisie at Fountain of Glory Assemblies of God, East Legon, as reported by The1957 News.

He further thanked the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev Dr Stephen Wengam, and the entire leadership for their spiritual support in managing the affairs of the country.

President Mahama also expressed his appreciation for Rev Wengam’s preaching, particularly his emphasis on faith and its relevance in the lives of Christians.

“And so I want to thank Reverend Wengam and the Executive Presbytery and all the leadership of the church. You made us proud to be members of the Assemblies of God Church. We will support you, we’ll follow you, and we want to thank you for the spiritual upliftment you are giving us. It’s not an easy job, I tell everybody.

"And today, when Reverend Wengam was preaching, I’ve always said that when he’s preaching, it’s like he’s opened your head and poured the word of God into it. When he was talking about faith, it felt like he was speaking directly to me. In the kind of work we do, you must have faith in God that He will see you through,” he added.
