We’re vindicated by court ruling - FWSC

Fair Wages and Salaries Commission has welcomed the Fast Track High Court ruling which quashed the directive by the National Labour Commission to restore the conversion difference of members of the Ghana Medical Association.

The Commission says the ruling vindicates its position on the issue.

The Communication Director of the Fair Wages Commission, Earl Ankrah says the Commission is ready to take any legal step to ensure industrial harmony.

Meanwhile, the Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association, Dr Justice Yankson says the association will soon announce its next line of action, following the Fast Track High Court ruling on the conversion difference.

The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission in June last year filed an application at the Fast Track High Court seeking a judicial review to quash the directive of the National Labour Commission to restore the GMA conversion difference.

The GMA in an interview with Radio Ghana expressed dissatisfaction with the National Labour Commission for failing to file a response in opposition to the application.

Dr Yankson was however not specific on the action the GMA will take, but gave assurance that their action will be of equal measure.

In a related development, a Labour Consultant, Austin Gamey has advised the Ghana Medical Association to further dialogue with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission on the conversion difference.

He insists dialogue should be the only way to resolve the issue.

Mr Gamey, who was commenting on the ruling by the Fast Track High Court on the conversion difference, said the issue should not have been sent to court in the first place.
