A group calling itself United Press for Development has staged a walk in solidarity with slain Journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale.

The group says it will repeat the walk in all major suburbs of Accra, to press and remind the Ghana Police Service and the general public on the need to find and convict the killers of Ahmed.

According to the convener of the walk, Kofi Asante, the police needs to do more in unraveling the killers of the slain journalist.

“We will repeat this walk every month at major suburbs of Accra, to tell the Ghana Police Service that they need to do more and to remind the general public of the need to find Ahmed’s killers,” Kofi Asante said.

Explaining further he said,” You know the Kidnappings in Takoradi, we’ve had the United States, FBI come in to help locate the Kidnappers and free the girls, why can’t we have the same support than for the unravelling of Ahmed’s killers”.

Kofi Asante stressed the need to beef up protection for all journalists

“Our outfit recorded 31 journalists being murdered in Kumasi, some of them were killed in 2018 and the irony is Ghana has been accredited as the number one country in press freedom in Africa and 23rd in the world and this is happening here, we will not sit down, we will pour our hearts out, we are not like the Ghana Journalist Association” he added.

Kofi Asante added that it was about time Journalist in the country came together to fight for a common course.

“Politicians have divided us as they have done to the police but we will not be carried away, we will fight for all journalists no matter what,” he said.

The walk begun from Madina Atomic junction, through to the Madina Riz junction and then finally ended at the Madina Zongo Junction.
