General Secretary for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nkekia, says we need an independent commission to investigate President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over the Nyantakyi’s comments in the Anas expose.

The president and his vice he suggested should be dragged before the commission so they will be examined and cross examined over the issues raised by Kwesi Nyantakyi who was captured on tape allegedly taking bribe.

The former Ghana Football Association (GFA) boss is currently being investigated for allegedly defrauding by false pretences.

The lawyer and longest serving GFA boss in the latest expose by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, bragged about how he and the investors [Tiger Eye] could take over the country if he [undercover agent] is able to give him $11 million to split among some top government officials including President Nana Akufo-Addo and his vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He disclosed in the secret recording that, the President will be willing to talk business should he [businessman] dole out some amount of money.

The President was to receive an amount of 5 million dollars, while 3 million would go to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, while the Minister and his deputy would receive an amount of 2 million and 1 million each.

“I can promise you that I can take you to whoever is important in Ghana “We will meet them one on one and then you can give the money to them personally “Give them something small for starters with your own discretion and when you get the big contracts we can go back and give them more money. “When we do this we will take over the whole country,” he said.

Making reference to these comments, Asiedu Nketiah said, the president has ignored this side of the Nyantakyi’s comments and only focusing on the GFA. ‘’There were two major issues but the one that embarrassed us was the one about the presidency and his ministers.

He [president] has abandoned this one and focusing on the GFA. He is the president and cannot investigative his own case.

We should have a commission of enquiry so the president and his people, will appear before that commission. The major issues Nyantakyi raised were true.

He [Nyantakyi] revealed the top secrets of this government. Nyantakyi who was a former GFA boss and CAF member was not bragging as suggested. Nobody will believe that he was bragging,’’ he said.

‘’We cannot ignore this issue, we need to investigate it,’’ Asiedu Nketiah told the host indicating that, the position represents that of the Inter Party Coalition comprising of the All People’s Congress (APC), People’s National Convention (PNC) and United Front Party (UFP) and NDC.
