We must intensify our educational drive to fight coronavirus - MP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Agotime - Ziope constituency, Mr Charles Agbeve has called on all Ghanaians to intensify educating the public on the safety standards provided health professionals which was aimed at mitigating the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.

Mr. Agbeve made the appeal when he donated some Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other items worth GhC 35,000 to the various communities in his constituency.

The items presented include, three 350 liter poly tanks with fabricated stands, 300 Veronica buckets, ten (10) wooden tables, ten cartons (720 pieces) of carbolic soaps, five (5) thermometer guns and hand sanitizers.

The move, the MP said would enhance the urgent steps and measures needed to control the spread of the virus in the country.

“We must all come together in educating the populace on the need to practice good hygiene so we could minimize the spread of the disease" the MP said.

Mr. Alfred Eklu Odikro, Agotime - Ziope Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) together with other constituency executives of the party were in the company of the MP to present the items to the communities through their respective traditional rulers.

Mr. Odikro said the poly tanks were meant to be placed at Kpetoe lorry station (Kente Village), Kpetoe market and Ziope market.

Mr. Mathew Ayamba Adam, the Agotime-Ziope District director of Health Services who received some items expressed his appreciation to the MP for his continuous support for healthcare delivery in the district.

He pointed out a number of assistance the directorate so far received from the MP since November 2019 when he was transferred to the district.

This included among others, the renovation of his office.

Mr. Ayamba Adam assured the MP and his team of using the items for their intended purpose.

He further prayed for more of such supports to help prevent the spread of COVID - 19 and other health related diseases from individuals and group.

Mr. Agbeve in an interaction with the media disclosed that he was optimistic that “this COVID 19 pandemic would be a thing of the past if all of us could adhere to the directives."

He further indicated that the District has no record of the disease so far.
