We'll turn economy around

The Daily Graphic reports that the vice-president Prof. John Atta Mills has unveiled a series of policy measures that the government of the Progressive Alliance under his leadership would adopt to address distortions in the national economy, abate corruption and improve the wages of workers. "We will move to stabilize the cedi to get our economy going and competitive once again", the paper quotes him as saying.

At the first in a series of media encounters to launch his election and future plans for the country in Accra on Tuesday he said; " I shall tackle the current levels of wages in Ghana and implement measures to improve the lot of workers whilst obtaining a commensurate rise in levels of productivity."

The Vice President is reported to have said anti-corruption institutions of the state would be strengthened, giving the assurance that his government would together with the relevant apparatus to uproot corruption. He is also reported as saying that this will need the co-operation of all.
