We have not enstooled a chief for Takoradi- Kingmakers

Accra, April 27, GNA - The Kingmakers (Asafohenefo) of Takoradi Traditional Area, said on Tuesday that they remained the legitimate body to enstool a chief for the Takoradi vacant seat. The Asafohenefo have therefore disassociated themselves from the pronouncement by the Ebusuapanyin of Takoradi Royal Family that he has nominated a chief for the area. The seat in contention was occupied by Nana Yaw Nketia, who died in 1982. Safohene Kojo Korampong, Spokesperson for the kingmakers made this known at a press conference in Accra, in reaction to a similar one held b= y the Ebusuapanyin, Bosomkora III in Takoradi on March 31.

He claimed that Nana Bosomkora III, known in private life as Dr Fiif= i Quayson is an impostor and no one should give him recognition. Safohene Korampong, flanked by his colleagues said Nana Bosomkora wa= s not known in the circle of chiefs.

He said under Ahanta customs and tradition, whenever a stool was declared vacant, heads of royal families meet to nominate a candidate, af= ter which the selected person had to go through the necessary customary rite= s before being enstooled and outdoored. He claimed that Nana Bosomkora had never gone through any of these traditional procedures. Safohene Korampong said the press conference was a diplomatic procedure to seek redress, but warned that if the situation persist, "We will advise ourselves".
