We didn’t send you to parliament to fight for wee legalization - Kumbungu Youth to Ras Mubarak

Ras Mubarak Ras Mubarak

The Member of Parliament(MP) for Kumbungu Constituency in the Northern Region, Ras Mukarak has incurred the wrath of youth in the constituency over unsavory Facebook remarks about people from the area.

A Facebook of the MP which reads “May God cure our Kumbungu constituency of ignorance. Someone sits in constituency office and thinks MP’s shouldn’t be interacting with branch executives, laughably ignorant’.

But a group calling itself the Concerned Youth of Kumbungu Constituency is asking the former Reggae presenter to apologise for his comments since he did not specify which category of people his ignorant comments were a target at.

Finding faults in his hailing Canada for legalizing Marijuana the youth had this to say in their release copied to MyNewsGh.com “Again, we strongly take exception to the MP’s statement on Facebook recently congratulating Canada for legalizing the use of cannabis (Marijuana) and described as “significant legacy by Prime Minister Trudeau”.

We note with great concern that, the Hon. Member is entitled to his opinion but again we wish to remind him that he is representing the people of Kumbungu in Ghana’s Parliament. We hold Kumbungu in high esteem hence the need to protecting it name and legacy. We do not want the name “Kumbungu” to be associated with anything that is deemed illegal in Ghana”.

PRESS RELEASE

COALITION OF CONCERN YOUTH OF KUMBUNGU CONSTITUENCY.

ATTENTION: HON. RAS MUBARAK MUST RETRACT AND APOLOGISE TO THE PEOPLE OF KUMBUNGU CONSTITUENCY OVER HIS FACEBOOK COMMENTS.

The above group is disgusted and appalled by the member of Parliament for Kumbungu constituency Hon. Ras Mubarak’s recent derogatory comments on Facebook.

We are shocked by his unrepentant expression of lack of remorse in the face of massive expressions of disappointment at his comments which sort to suggest that ” the ignorance in Kumbungu constituency is unbelievable “.

We wish to remind the Hon. Member that as a public officer of his standing, he’s required to speak or write with honour and dignity. He has failed in that regard.

We further wish to remind him that he was voted for by the same people he claimed are “ignorant “.

We find these statements insulting to the entire Kumbungu constituency.

The MPs comments goes to suggest our former MPs the likes of Hon. Alhaji Musah, H.E Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, Hon Alhaji Yakubu Kapkpagu and Hon Moses Yahaya are all ignorant.

The MPs comments isn’t only directed at our former MPs but also our revered Chief’s such as Naa yab Kumbung- Naa, Nyab Vo- Naa, Nyab Zugu- Lana, Nyab Gbullung- Gbang Lana, Nyab Dallung- Lana, Nyab Sing- Lana, Nyab Zangballung- Gbang Lana and Nyab Tibung- Lana.

Furthermore, the MPs comments go to undermine the likes of Dr. Nashiru Issahaku former Governor Bank of Ghana, Alhaji Mahadi, Dr. Awal Mohammed current Minister for Business development and many others.

We, therefore, consider the MPs comments as reckless, disrespectful and potentially defamatory.

Again, we strongly take exception to the MP’s statement on Facebook recently congratulating Canada for legalizing the use of cannabis (Marijuana) and described as “significant legacy by Prime Minister Trudeau”.

We note with great concern that, the Hon. Member is entitled to his opinion but again we wish to remind him that he is representing the people of Kumbungu in Ghana’s Parliament.

We hold Kumbungu in high esteem hence the need to protecting it name and legacy.

We do not want the name “Kumbungu” to be associated with anything that is deemed illegal in Ghana.

We cannot condone such statements, and we condemn them in no uncertain terms as unbefitting of a lawmaker representing the people of Kumbungu constituency.

We further wish to remind the Hon. Member that, Kumbungu constituency is underdeveloped hence the needles organization of unnecessary demonstrations as have witnessed recently which has no positive impact on the constituency.

We demand from Hon. Ras Mubarak a retraction and an unqualified apology to the people of Kumbungu constituency for the appalling comments.

We call on all stakeholders including our revered Chiefs in the constituency to condemn and denounce the MPs comments and demand a full retraction and apology.

If the Hon. Member should fail or refuse to do that, then we the people of Kumbungu constituency would respectfully and humbly demonstrate against him.

God bless Kumbungu constituency, God bless Northern Region and God bless Ghana.

Thank you.

Signed

Prince Tikumah
