The Minority in Parliament has rejected claims by Information Minister Mustapha Hamid that Members of Parliament belonging to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) leaked the controversial military agreement between Ghana and the United States of America (USA) to stir up disaffection for the Akufo-Addo led government.

Mr Hamid in a press briefing on Wednesday, 21 March 2018 accused the Minority of assuming a posture that threatens the democracy of the country and undermines the legislative arm of government.

According to him, the NDC MPs deliberately leaked the controversial agreement to whip up public disaffection for the current government.

However, MP for Sagnarigu and Minority Spokesperson, Mr ABA Fuseini has debunked the claims.

He told Benjamin Akakpo on 505 on Class91.3FM that: “You can’t just come out and [accuse] the NDC because the NDC is made up of some four million supporters and sympathisers across the country so which of them leaked it?

“You can’t come and make such nebulous unsubstantiated allegations and just walk away and that’s why I’m saying in any case what are they afraid of? If it was something good what are they hiding?

“Never in our history has anybody entered into an agreement to sight a military base in this country. So the document they are parading is a fake document. We challenge the Minister of Defence that the document he’s bringing, he should show us where an agreement has been made for the provision of military bases. They shouldn’t make examples that never existed, there is no such thing in our history.”
