We did not attack President Mahama's person - NPP

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Greater Accra Communications Director says the party’s expose on the possible sale of Merchant Bank as a result of its huge debts was not to attack the personalities of president Mahama and his brother as corrupt.

The NPP during a press conference a few days ago alleged that President Mahama does not deserve to be voted for during the December elections because he is supervising corrupt practices.

The brother of President Mahama was particularly singled out as having engaged in a transaction that smacked of fraud on the contributors of the SSNIT pension fund.

A company owned by Ibrahim Mahama, junior brother of the president, Engineers and Planners, was said to have virtually collapsed the Merchant Bank, through over exposure to non-payment of loans.

President Mahama at the launch of the NDC manifesto launch on Thursday however described the allegations as irresponsible and said he is prepared to appear before any institution if anyone has evidence against him that he is corrupt.

But Mike Ampong says he is hopeful the state will do a good job in the recovery of the loan.
