Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has asked President John Dramani Mahama to expedite action in solving the challenges facing the country because Ghanaians ‘cannot be patient.’
He has suggested that Ghanaians have run out of patience looking at the various conditions in the country; which by all standards is getting worse.
“We don’t have the luxury of being patient; you can’t tell a person who is earning about Ghc50 a month to be patient. Where are we going to get that kind of patience…?” he said.
Kwesi Pratt was responding to the president’s assertion that his critics should be patient because he will soon change from first to 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear to accelerate developments in the country.
This statement has been met with criticisms by various groups of people because according to them, they are at their wits’ end of being patient. Others have even suggested the president steps down for another person who can solve the crisis in our economy to take over.
According to the Managing-Editor, “if he (President Mahama) is indeed changing from first gear to second, he should do it immediately…people expect that the problem should be resolved”.
He said “if I were him, I would stop asking people to be patient because it looks like asking us to be patient means the solutions will not come immediately”
He has also asked the president to make hay while the sun shines, especially because some of those challenges can and should be solved ‘now’
“I don’t think any Ghanaian can be patient looking at the conditions in the country and so the president should hurry up…It is true he didn’t create all those problems, but we will plead with him to fasten things up because the I am being criticized too much, people should have patience is becoming too much” he indicated.
