AshantiGold Sporting Club Chief Executive Officer(CEO), Emmanuel Frimpong, says his side is ready to compete in Africa if the season is called off.

The Obuasi-based club per the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) rules on competitions can represent Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup next season, if the league is cancelled.

The CAF rules on competition states that, “If for any reason, the national league of a federation did not take place, the federation in question has the right to submit the participation request of the same club(s) engaged having played the national league from the previous season.

AshantiGold Sporting Club and Asante Kotoko represented Ghana in Africa last season and per the rules can participate in the competition next season.

“We are ready to go to Africa. Most of our players have the experience of playing in Africa and it’s not going to be a challenge”, Emmanuel Frimpong told Ohene Bampoe-Brenya on Happy 98.9FM.

“At the moment we are strengthening our squad by signing new players. In terms of finance, we are ready to compete in the competition”, he added.

Emmanuel Frimpong also disclosed that there hasn’t been any offer for star midfielder, Lateef Anabila as has been reported by the media.

AshantiGold failed to make it to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup last season as they were eliminated by RS Berkane in the first round.
