Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President of Ghana and the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said that despite efforts made by his erstwhile government, some aspirations were not met, pointing out to the realities of governance.
He said challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and other economic pressures and many others affected the pace of development in the country.
In a report on adomonline.com, he stated; “We are not perfect, and no government is,’’ while reassuring the party supporters of the NPP’s commitment to service and innovations that will be unwavering.
“We learned valuable lessons and are better prepared for the future,” he added, the report said.
He made the comments during the NPP’s ongoing Thank You Tour and praised the achievements under the party’s administration but admitted that not every goal had been fully realised.
“We had a solid record of achievements, but not everything went right,” he stated candidly.

Addressing a gathering of supporters, Dr Bawumia mentioned some key successes, including advancements in digitalisation, infrastructure development, and economic reforms during the tenure of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He expressed pride in the work the NPP had done to transform the lives of Ghanaians, noting that; “the evidence of our progress can be seen in every sector of the economy.”
