Water shortages in parts of Accra to end today – GWCL CEO

The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has given assurance to residents in parts of Accra facing water challenges that the situation should improve by close of day today.

Areas such as Kpone Shanghai, Oyarifa, Teiman area, Golf City, Bawa Kotobabi, Tema Kakasunanka Saki and Baatsona Spintex have had water challenges over the last couple of weeks.

Some of the residents told Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Tuesday that they have not had water since the President promised free water for three months following the outbreak of COVID-19 in Ghana.

Reacting to the development, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Water Company Clifford Briamah said the cause of the water challenge has been resolved and supply should resume today.

“We had a challenge at our main line at Tema which has been resolved about 3 days ago. I’m sure by close of the day all those areas not having water should be fine,” he told Morning Starr host Francis Abban.

He, however, said areas which were without water before the current challenge will still not have water because they are yet to be connected to the national water grid.
