Water and Sanitation facilities for Kwaebibirem

Kade, Dec. 23, GNA - The Kwaebibirem District Assembly in conjunction with the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) had constructed 84 boreholes fitted with pumps. As part of a programme to improve water and sanitation in the district, 24 hand-dug wells have also been sunk and six others rehabilitated.

Addressing the Third Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of the Fourth Assembly at Kade on Monday, the DCE, Mr Yaw Yiadom-Boakye, said 723 household and 29 institutional toilets had also been completed. On small town water system, he said six towns had been earmarked to benefit from the project including Kwae, Kusi, Boadua, Takwrase, Otumi and Abam who have paid the initial deposit of 30 million ceids each. Three of the towns have been selected to benefit from a German fund, KEW, which is readily available, the DCE said.

He appealed to the beneficiary communities to pay their contributions and gave the assurance that the Assembly would not disappoint them in settling its contribution.
