Water Shortage Hits Dormaa Ahenkro

Dormaa Ahenkro (Brong Ahafo) Nov. 7 Dormaa Ahenkro and its surrounding towns and villages have been hit by water shortage for almost two weeks now. The problem has seriously affected human activities because people have to spend a lot of time in search of water. Mr Robert Tawiah Mensah, Brong Ahafo regional director of the Ghana water and sewerage corporation (GWSC) briefing the Ghana News Agency, said the problem is due to broken pipes supporting the transmission lines across the dam at the Biaso water works. He said for the past 22 years there has not been any major rehabilitation of the pipes and attributed the problem to severe erosion at the dam site. Mr Mensah said workers are seriously working around the clock to solve the problem and urged consumers to depend on boreholes and hand- dug wells for the time being. He appealed to consumers to pay their water bills promptly to enable the corporation to get revenue to meet its commitments.
