Water Africa and W/A Building and Construction Event to mark 25thAnniversary

The prestigious trade and industry exhibition, Water Africa and West Africa Building and Construction would mark its 25th anniversary in Accra from June 26 to 28, 2019.

The event, which will be opened by Mrs Cecilia Dapaah, the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources would be held at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel.

A statement from the Event to the Ghana News Agency noted that the anniversary celebration will include; seminars that would be facilitated by experts in the water, sanitation, building and construction industry and exhibition.

It said the first two days of the seminar programme and entry to the exhibition would be free and the event is aimed at creating a two-way flow of information for visitors and participants to help them to analyse their sector needs and put the necessary measures in place for expansion and improvement in the important areas of the sector.

The statement said the Water Seminar among other seminars will be held on the first day of the celebration and chaired by Dr Joseph Addo Ampofo, the former Director of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research-Water Research Institute.

It said the seminar would treat many topics including; Sustainable Development Goals, Water Management, Rural Water and Sanitation, and techniques to improve water and sanitation projects.

Ms Vera Mills-Odoi, the Project Director of the Youth Inclusive Entrepreneurial Development Initiative for Employment (YIEDIE), according to the statement, would open and chair the Building and Construction seminar on June 27 and give a presentation on “Mentoring for Positive Youth Workforce in Construction-A 21st Century approach”.

It said the programme would also include; financing infrastructure projects, development control, sustainable solutions for both urban and rural housing, and excellence in green design.

“As part of the seminar programme, is a prestigious paid for CPD course by Professor Bob Andoh on Addressing Flooding and Urban Water Challenges for Integrated Urban Water Management,” the statement said.

After the CPD course, the Herrenknecht Seminar on Trenchless Installation Methods for Utility Installations would be held in the afternoon and attendance would be free of charge.

“Placeswill be available to enable interested practitioners in the Water and Wastewater and Building and Construction sectors to take part in the seminar programmes, which will be run in coordination with the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing,” the statement disclosed.

According to the statement, government was a big supporter of the event, since its inception in the 1990s and offered ministerial support, particularly with the programme of seminars that accompanied the trade exhibition.

Countries represented among the 70-plus exhibitors would include; Ghana, Austria, Belgium, China, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, France, Germany, Iran, Jordan, India, Italy, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, South Africa, Switzerland, UAE, UK and USA, the statement noted.

Water Africa and West Africa Building and Construction is sponsored by Interplast, Incorporated, Ingreen, Everlast, Inesfly Africa, Polytank, Global Communities – YIEDIE Project, Schneider Electric, Enclave, Security Warehouse Limited and Herrenknecht.

“The exhibition and seminars are endorsed and supported by the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Ministry of Works and Housing, the Ghana Institution of Engineers, Ghana Water Company Limited, Water Resources Commission, and the CSIR Water Research Institute.

Other supporters are; the Community Water and Sanitation Agency, Ghana Institute of Architects, Ghana Institution of Surveyors, Ghana Real Estate Developers Association, Association of Ghana Industries, YIEDIE and Chartered Institute of Building.
