The mother of the late Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, was visibly emotional as she was escorted from her residence in Koforidua in the Eastern region to Accra following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed her only child's life.
Footage from the scene showed a heart-wrenching moment as the grieving mother, overcome with emotion, was gently supported by family members and others present.
She struggled to hold back tears while being helped into a waiting state-arranged vehicle.
Though visibly distraught, those accompanying her could be seen comforting and urging her to stay strong as they ushered her to the waiting vehicle.
According to reports, she was being transported to Accra for special arrangements supervised by the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
The crash of the Z9 helicopter, which belonged to the Ghana Armed Forces, claimed the lives of Omane Boamah, Environment, Science and Technology Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, former Central Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong and Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate.
Members of the helicopter's crew, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu and Sgt Ernest Addo Mensah, also died.
