An interpreter of a fetish priest of Asanteman was at the receiving end of a heavy slap during the second day of the final funeral rites of the late Queen Mother of the Ashanti Kingdom, the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
The incident happened right in front of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on September 16, 2025.
The priest, after dancing with his entourage to pay homage to the Asantehene, started making some incantations, which required interpretation to the Asantehene.

He called on one of his subjects to interpret his gestures to the Asantehene.
The interpretation was going well initially, and the Asantehene could be seen smiling.
The seemingly smooth process took a sudden turn when the priest abruptly landed a heavy slap on the face of the interpreter over a wrong interpretation.
The priest further insisted that he accurately interpret his gestures.
After the brief interruption, the interpreter appeared to have gotten subsequent translations right, so, the priest proceeded to pray for the Asantehene.
He could be seen encircling the head of the king with a fly whisk.
