On Thursday, March 17, 2026, Members of Parliament observed a moment of silence in honour of the two victims of the microlight aircraft crash in Tema.

The aircraft crashed and burst into flames near a school park in Tema Community One on Monday, March 16, 2026, killing both occupants on board.

According to a statement issued by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the aircraft, with registration number 9G-ADV, was en route from Ho to Accra when the incident occurred.

"The aircraft was flying from Ho to Accra, estimating arrival at Accra at 1520 Z. The last contact with the aircraft on radio was at 1418 Z. There were two persons on board," the statement said.

The crash occurred at the Oninku Drive School Park at Site 17 in Tema Community One, close to the TMA Daycare facility, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air and prompting an immediate emergency response.

Meanwhile, the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau (AIB Ghana) has initiated investigations into the tragic incident.
