Residents of Obuasi Kunka Junction in the Ashanti Region were forced to flee their homes on Saturday morning, September 13, 2025, following a massive gas leak at a filling station in the heart of the town.
Eyewitnesses reported that the leak triggered an explosion, sending panic through the community as thick smoke and flames engulfed the area.
A video shared on X on Saturday, September 13, 2025, showed residents running frantically for safety.
“All of us have run out of our rooms for safety. We are kindly calling on the Ghana National Fire Service to come to our rescue,” one resident pleaded.

The incident has raised concerns about the siting of gas filling stations in densely populated areas, a matter that has long sparked safety debates in Ghana.
Emergency service teams, including the Ghana National Fire Service, have yet to officially comment on the situation.
It is also unclear if there have been any casualties.
