The Minority Caucus in Parliament made a stop at the premises of the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps while en route to the Jubilee House following their walkout from the House ahead of the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
The Minority side, led by Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam/Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, delivered a petition to the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, Maher Kheir.
According to GhanaWeb’s parliamentary correspondent, George Ayisi, the petition raised concerns about electoral violence during the recent parliamentary election rerun in 19 polling stations at Ablekuma North as well as the environmental destruction caused by illegal mining (galamsey).
The Minority described their concerns as “urgent,” calling on the diplomatic community to lend their voices and influence in speaking out against these issues.
They added a flash drive containing video evidence of some incidents of violence that occurred during the Ablekuma North election, notably the assault of former Awutu Senya East lawmaker, Mavis Hawa Koomson.
Their next destination is at the Jubilee House where they are expected to present their concerns to President John Dramani Mahama.
