Traditional priest, Kwaku Bonsam, made a striking entrance at the Manhyia Palace on horseback to join mourners as Asanteman observes the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
His presence added to the significant role of traditional leaders in Asante culture and the immense respect accorded to the late queen mother.
The body of the late Asantehemaa was laid in state on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, drawing thousands of mourners.

The palace grounds were filled with traditional leaders, dignitaries, royals, and ordinary citizens paying their last respects.
The four-day funeral rites are being marked by solemn traditional ceremonies and rich cultural displays befitting the stature of the Asantehemaa, whose reign was celebrated for her dedication to the Ashanti Kingdom and her unwavering role in preserving its customs and heritage.

Security was tight as mourners filed past in long queues, many dressed in black and red to symbolise grief and honor for the departed queen.
