Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, along with other government officials, visited the residence of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, to commiserate with the bereaved family on October 24, 2025.

The government delegation, dressed in black attire, joined the family in mourning the passing of the former First Lady.

Julius Debrah was seated among the children of the deceased, including Kimathi Rawlings and Member of Parliament for the Korle-Klottey constituency, Dr Zanetor Rawlings, along with other family members.

They exchanged pleasantries and engaged with the family to check on how they have been coping since the tragedy.

The delegation signed the book of condolence and emphasised that the government will fully support the funeral proceedings until their completion.

In return, the Rawlings family expressed immense gratitude to the government officials for consoling them during these trying times.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings passed away at the age of 76. Reports have indicated that she had been unwell for some time and was under close medical supervision prior to her death.

She was the wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, Ghana's first President of the Fourth Republic.

As a prominent political figure and advocate for women's empowerment, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings played a key role in championing women's rights and social development across the country.

Through the establishment of the 31st December Women’s Movement, she dedicated herself to promoting gender equality, fostering community growth, and creating opportunities for the economic empowerment of women in Ghana and beyond.
