The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was preceded by a series of interesting events, one of the most notable being a brief exchange of pleasantries between the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, and the famous Hajia Fati Amadu.

The NEC meeting on June 17, 2025, engaged in a crucial meeting at the Alisa Hotel, in Accra, to deliberate on proposed constitutional reforms that could significantly reshape the party’s internal power dynamics and electoral processes.

Hajia Fati, the die-hard supporter of the party, who slapped a journalist, Charity Akosua Safoa, alias Ohemaa Sakyiwaa Awehenepa, in May 2018, was seen seated at the entrance of the venue for the meeting.

In an X video shared by SikaOfficial on June 18, 2025, the once vibrant Hajia Fati, is seen seated on a chair with a pair of clutches by her side and looking quite sober but highly spirited.

Kodua, while approaching her, asked if she was there to support the NEC meeting, to which she responded in the affirmative as he gave her a warm embrace.

While she is a staunch member of the NPP, in 2018, she earned unpleasant popularity when she slapped a journalist at the NPP Headquarters, claiming that the journalist looked like an onion seller.

A Human Rights Court fined Hajia Fati Amadu GHc9000 for assaulting the journalist, Charity Akosua Safoa.

Hajia Fati was also ordered to publish an unqualified apology to the reporter, in the state-owned Daily Graphic newspaper within 14 days of the judgement, which was delivered on Monday, 2 November 2019.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Gifty Adjei Addo, delivered her final judgment after over a year of arguments by both parties.

Meanwhile, the second respondent, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was not charged for any wrongdoing since the judge, Adjei Addo, pointed out that Hajia Fati acted independently, as the party openly condemned the assault.
