Mr. Anthony Aggrey, Wassa East District Chief Executive, on Friday called on the people to support the Assembly to implement its development plans to improve their living standards.
He said the district assembly could undertake projects and programmes with the active cooperation of the people.
Mr. Aggrey was speaking at the district assembly’s validation meeting of its draft 2014-2017 Medium Term Development Plan at Daboase.
The meeting was attended by members of the District Assembly, Daboase Area Council, political parties as well as traditional rulers and the general public.
Mr. Aggrey said development challenges of the district needed to be addressed to pave the way for accelerated development.
He asked the people to use the laid down channels to make suggestions on development issues.
Miss Estherine Mensah, the District Planning Officer, said the District Assembly would undertake projects estimated at 20 million Ghana Cedis under the medium term development plan.
She said the projects would be mainly financed by the District Assembly with its internal generated funds with about 13 million Ghana Cedis external funding.
Miss Mensah said community needs assessment was carried out in 21 electoral areas for the medium term development plan.
She said the goal of the plan is to enhance access to basic social and economic services towards accelerated growth and poverty reduction.
