Wa Police arrest 28 suspected murderers

Wa, July 16, GNA - The Police have arrested 28 people, suspected to have murdered Munya Seidu, a Fulani herdsman at Nyoli near Wa in the Upper West Region.

The deceased went missing on April 13, when he sent cattle belonging to one Mr Dong Nayayiri for grazing.

The cattle however found their way to their kraal, compelling Mr Nayayiri to report the matter to the Police in Wa, while a search party managed to find the corpse of Seidu in the bush.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Wisdom Lavoe, Regional Police Crime Officer, told journalists that police personnel who accompanied the complainant to the scene found the deceased in a supine position, with the body in a decomposition stage.

He said there was a deep slash on his neck and a swell on his eye.

DSP Lavoe said the medical officer who carried out the post mortem on the victim indicated that he died as a result of the deep cut inflicted on his neck leading to acute blood loss.

He said some police personnel were therefore detailed to investigate the incident, leading to the arrest of the suspects after an informant had provided reliable information.

DSP Lavoe said the houses of the suspects who ranged from 20 to 55 years were raided where a locally manufactured pistol, shotgun, cartridge and a number of bows and arrows were found in their rooms.
