WASSSCE takes off smoothly in Tema

Tema, April 7, GNA - The 2009 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSSCE) took off smoothly for final year students of Senior High Schools in the Tema metropolis on Tuesday. The students sat for English paper three (Oral English) on the first day.

Supervisors of some four schools in the metropolis described the beginning as "smooth and incident free" when Ghana News Agency visited examination centres there. Mr Ebenezer Pobee, Assistant Supervisor in-charge of Chemu SHS said all 663 registered candidates showed up and comported themselves during the examination. He advised students to heed to the instructions given to them by the authorities to avoid any mistakes and acts that could lead to the cancellation of results. A total of 200 students out of 207 registered candidates sat for the examination at Datus SHS. Our Lady of Mercy (OLAM) SHS which hosted Corpus Christi Catholic School had a total of 279 candidates sitting for the examination in two sessions.

The centre, which was supervised by Mrs Roberta Appau, Headmistress of the school, recorded no absentees since all 195 and 84 registered candidates from OLAM and Corpus Christi showed up. With the exception of a deceased candidate, all 636 registered candidates of the Tema Senior High School reported for the exams on Tuesday. 07 April 09
