The Executive Director of the West Africa Network for Peace Building (WANEP) Emmanuel Bombande has cautioned Ghana to tread cautiously in extraditing Justin Kone Katinan, spokesperson for former Ivorian leader Laurent Gbagbo.
Justin Kone Katinan was arrested here in Ghana for his alleged crimes in the recent post-election violence in Cote D’Ivoire.
Speaking to XYZ News, Mr. Bombande said Ghana should not forget her obligations and must act accordingly.
“If he is guilty of offences, Ghana cannot protect him, because when we do that then we renege from our international obligations.
“For a country that respects the rule of law, we want to make sure that there are very good reasons why he is being handed over” Mr. Bombande said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bombande has entreated Ghanaians to use dialogue in all issues to enable peace in the upcoming elections.
