Voting is December & in Ghana: Vote John Mahama!!!

December 7 is next Friday and your vote will do the talk. Gonjalanders, you have a lot at stake in these elections. I wished I could talk to cousin Abu Sakara face to face and let him know how much he would help Ghana and Gonjaland if he joined forces with John. But, I know he will come to my point of view after the elections. However, let’s not give up.

This time I have a few examples to point out why Gonjalanders should come out in their numbers to vote for John, why they should encourage others in whatever region they may be residing to come out and vote for John, and why you should all see the success of the NDC as your own success in these elections. Not just because John is a Gonja but, because John is the kind of person who will do the right thing for all Ghanaians. My voice can only reach Gonjalanders in mass and I am hoping you will carry this message and enthusiasm to other parts of Ghana where you are living. Check this out!!

The struggle to bring the creation of the Savanna Region out of the present Northern Region was initiated long ago. As Vice President this is what the Ghanaian papers reported concerning the support from John:

“Vice President John Dramani Mahama has said the creation of a new region out of the Northern Region should be in the interest of all northerners and not seen as the agenda of any group of people. He said the Northern Region covered a vast expanse of land and it was therefore necessary for it to be divided into two to ensure effective and smooth administration and its accelerated development.”

Folks, if he recognized and said this as Vice president, what do you think he will do as President?

As you all know, gold is abundant in Bole area. The Ghanaian papers said and showed the following:

Galamsey Operators: Illegal mining, popularly referred to as “galamsey” is a canker that has bedeviled most communities with gold deposits in the country and even deaths sometimes resulting from the operations do not deter people from getting involved. The Bole District in the Northern Region is one of those districts fortunate to have been blessed with the natural resource but has to battle with the negatives associated with the operations of these illegal miners. Mr. Chimsi Musah, Deputy Coordinating Director at the Assembly disclosed to Ghanadistricts.com that all attempts by the District Security Council to curtail their activities have been met with strong resistance. “Each time the attempt is made; they run for cover and resume their operations after some time”, he stated.

Folks, John went to Bole, as Vice President, and tried to get these illegal activities curbed, but to no avail. So, what do you think he can do now as President?

BOLE: Gov’t to renegotiate for return of Cuban Medical Brigade

Vice President John Dramani Mahama announced that government would renegotiate with the Cuban government for the posting of the country’s medical brigade to Ghana. He said the programme which was truncated a few years ago was placing heavy responsibilities on Ghanaian doctors. Vice President Mahama made this known when he presented an Ambulance and medical equipment comprising hernia set, four pieces of amputation set, three pieces of caesarean set valued at GH¢50,000 to the Bole District Hospital.

As Vice President this is what John said and tried to do and really did it. What do you think he will do as President?

Folks, as you all know, my passion for over thirty years now has been my obsession with the road to Damongo, the capital of Gonjaland. Below is what John has struggled to do for this road:

W GONJA: Gov’t moves to enhance Fufulso-Damongo-Sawla road project!

Government is constructing the Fufulso-Damongo-Sawla road in the West Gonja district in the Northern region to assist upgrade the road infrastructure in the area. About 98% distance of the whole stretch covers the W Gonja district and it is a major trunk road linking the Northern region to the Upper West region. The DCE for the area, Mr. Adam Mutawakilu interacting with Ghanadistricts.com on the ongoing project in the district pointed -out that the completion of the road will consequently boost trade and commerce, as well as tourism prospects in the area. In addition, he was of the view that the road will facilitate the transport of agric produce from the hinterlands to the major market centres. He said the 36month project is moving on steadily, indicating that currently contractors assigned on the project were embarking on earth works at the project site.

Folks, these are just a few of the things John is doing for Gonjaland. When I was in Ghana in June/July this year, I traveled through Assin and Adansi area to Kumasi and to Tamale and Bole. I saw the road construction works going on in Praso in Adansi, at the Formena bridge and beyond. John knows that highways are the basic and necessary steps to open up a country for development, and he is doing it and fighting for all Ghanaians.

So, don’t sit on the fence. Get up and fight for John, get up and vote for John, get up and turn out the vote for John and wake up to your responsibility as a citizen. Folks, I just want to conclude this piece with a response to one of my appeals for your vote, as a friend described my writings. This response is from a senior of mine in Ghana College. He is Kojo Kaleem; we used to call him Metazylem. This is how he responded to my appeal:

“Indeed long before your mail the late Alex Asoka and I discussed this issue and came to the conclusion that John was going to be our next president. That was the very year NDC won the elections in 2009. It’s unfortunate Asoka did not live to see this historic moment. May his sole rest in peace. I assure you that we shall do our best to see John occupy the seat. The sort of development he has brought to Ghanasco, his alma mata, has made some of us very proud of him.”

John knows where he came from and has not forgotten where he came from, even as President. Kojo Kaleem will work Tamale for John, so should you, where ever you are in Ghana.
